Hi all, I had my first jab of golimumab yesterday. I can honestly say that I have had no side effects at all, but maybe its because Im running on adrenalin at the moment. My son Jack, 20 was diagnosed with crohns earlier this week and unfortunately he was rushed into hospital early thursday morning, as one of the ulcers he has had an artery around it and it burst. He lost 2/3 of his blood, and we nearly lost him. thankfully, he is very much on the mend now thanks to the wonderful care he has received and also the blood transfusion he had. So the first treament has not affected me at all, although Im sure that when I acutally slow down, my body will react in some way. quite frankly, I dont care as long as my boy is ok then I will take anything!!

Wow, Heather, what a dreadful time for you.
Thank goodness your son pulled through and is on the mend now.
Here's hoping your new drug works well, sounds like you are going to be doing a bit of nursing when your son comes home!

So sorry to hear about the awful time your family has been having but pleased that your son is on the mend now. A rather extreme way to not be aware of a new treatment though!!!!
Hope that you continue to not have side effects and that it proves to be very successful.

Oh Heather, what a dreadful thing to happen to your son! I`m so pleased Jack is on the mend, and hope he continues to improve. Hope the new drug works for you, and that you continue to have no side effects from it. Take care, Kathleen x

Heather, I am just sending my best wishes to you, Jack and your family. I hope Jack is continuing to improve. I have a colleague with Crohns and he had a similar experience to your son about 10 years ago. He is now treated with Sulphasalazine (not sure if spelling is correct) and hardly has any symptoms at all. I hope this gives your son hope. I also hope that your new treatment will work without too many side effects. keep us posted if you can X

Oh heather! What an awful time with your son- I'm so sorry to hear I guess he's still in hospital? The new drug- that feels very back burner I'm sure but do try and get a bit of rest time in I get a lot of stress with my family things and things going dramatically wrong are a bit of a feature These things all do have an effect on my physiology So Taking time out for you Get nails and hair done etc Important how to be a velvet bulldoser

Sorry to hear that your Son was taken so poorly last week, I do hope by now

Oh Heather, I am so very sorry to hear about your son and how traumatic that must have been for you all. So very relieved he got good prompt care and is feeling better. I'm sure they will keep a very close eye on him now and get him on the right drugs for the Crohns.
I also hope so mch that the new drug will work for you too. I know just how you feel, if things are tough for our kids I feel I dont care what is happening with me.
However as my GP rightly says, we cant care for others when we are too sick ourselves, so do try to get some rest if you can. Loads of luck with the Golimumab.

Heather, I'm so sorry to hear about Jack, but glad he is on the mend now. Our kids will always come first no matter what. Let's hope the drug does work for you. Take care of yourself now that you know is is getting better  BARBARA

Hi everyone, thank you so much for the replies. Jack is so much better and due to have another infusion of inflixumab. He's having it done in the rhummy day care so as he said to the nurse on the phone he "knows the drill" as he's been there with me before when Ive had steroid infusions! He's been eating well and feeling great so he's back to work on Monday. His dad and I are still exhausted physically and emotionally, I think it will take quite a while to get back to normal!!!
withregards to the golimumab, I havent had any side effects that Ive noticed, but have to say my joints are sore at the moment, but then again, given the week we've just had its not too surprising. I was told that it could take 4-6 weeks to work, so hanging on in there!!

Hi Heather, sorry for my late arrival with your post.
I am so pleased to hear that your son has done so well on the infliximab infusion, wonderful news for you and your husband, I have a son the same age and appreciate he is well, being divorced and on my own he has been very good to me ( for a 20 year old, as you can no doubt understand ) I had infliximab infusions at one point and saw how well those with Crohns did brilliantly on the treatment.
I m sure you will see the benefits of your new medication now that all the worry with your son is not so great, stress certainly doesn t help this RA I know.
